FREMONT, Calif. -- Pedestal Networks, developer of innovative broadband access solutions, today announced that Richard Harris has joined the company as vice president of sales. In his new position, Harris will be responsible for leading Pedestal Networks' sales team, managing customer relations, and developing a distribution base to handle large numbers of Independent Operating Carriers (IOCs), Independent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs), and large service providers in North America.

Prior to joining Pedestal Networks, Harris held several vice president positions at Nortel Networks. Harris has more than 15 years' experience in broadband sales and has a strong technical background in the telecommunications industry. At Nortel, he successfully instituted new business with tier-one carriers, grew accounts, improved customer satisfaction, and established key relationships with major U.S. carriers such as SBC and Qwest.

"It was obvious to me that the access space is a key growth area for service provider capital investment," said Harris. "Pedestal Networks' Universal Broadband Server(TM) (UBS(TM)) is a great portfolio that meets the growing need for innovative broadband access solutions. The company is rapidly penetrating rural areas in the U.S., helping carriers provide DSL where other solutions don't make good economic sense. This is a competitive advantage that has been proven by Pedestal Networks' growing success in the IOC market."
