HAMPSHIRE, U.K. -- Patapsco Communications, the telecoms engineering specialist can now enable synchronous ISDN devices, such as Brent phones, to operate over IP networks. As more government departments and military institutions move towards an IP infrastructure, this new advancement could herald a breakthrough in the migration towards Next Generation Networks (NGNs).

Patapsco’s PacketBand ISDN is the first Pseudo-Wire* system that offers clear-channel ISDN tunnelling over Packet Networks, enabling clocked ISDN services to run seamlessly across any IP infrastructure. This includes both terrestrial and satellite networks.

Until now, asynchronous non-clocked Packet Networks were not able to cater for the demands of ISDN transmissions. PacketBand ISDN allows on-demand, synchronous devices to run over IP. It preserves the ‘B’ channels and all the signalling and data performance characteristics required by ISDN, and provides total transparency to the user.
