HAMBURG -- Pandatel AG, which specializes in network access and transmission systems based on copper and fiber optic technology, is expanding its modem/converter product range with the addition of the attractively priced ET‑CE media converter.

The highly reliable ET-CE converts electrical Ethernet signals (10 Mbps, 10/100 Mbps, 100 Mbps) to optical Ethernet signals (100 Mbps). In this way, users can extend the transmission range of their Ethernet network (LAN) or connect copper to fiber optic networks. The converter transfers data with minimal latency and bridges distances of up to 60 km at the optical end (depending on the type of laser used). It also supports 10/100BaseTX and 100BaseFX for the connection of networks. The integration capabilities are enhanced by the LFP (link fault pass through) function: when an error occurs at one of the two ports or the connection is broken, the second port is also set to error status and the error displayed. Automatic data speed recognition is available as an option. The ET-CE also supports the "auto crossing" function MDI/MDIX* for the straightforward interconnection of two units.

The ET-CE converter is available as a highly compact desktop unit or can be installed in a Pandatel 19" rack (max. of 10 units).

* MDI = Medium Dependent Interface. When two units are interconnected, the receiver of one must be connected to the transmitter of the other. With the auto crossing function, the unit can identify the type of cable and the far-end interface and configures the port accordingly.
