HAMBURG, Germany -- Pandatel AG, a specialist in network access and transmission technology via optical fibers and copper lines, has expanded its portfolio of IP multiplexers: like the larger, modular IPV-MUX-M, the one-channel IPV-MUX-S multiplexer allows for the transparent transmission of voice and data via IP technology. This new multiplexer addresses mid-size and large companies that need to connect their branches inexpensively using the available networks and service providers that want to be able to offer additional voice and data services.

Customers with conventional E1/T1 connections can use the IPV-MUX-S to operate existing connections on modern IP networks cost-effectively. They can thus save costs for communications, access, and equipment. They can continue to use the infrastructure they already have - telephone systems (for voice applications), etc. - and take advantage of optimal capacity utilization for data transmission, even while offering new services on the Ethernet networks already in place.

The IPV-MUX-S allows for the serial transfer of data across protocols from 56/64 Kbps to 1.544/2.048 Mbps. Various interface variants are available: G.703 (E1/T1), RS530, V.35 or X.21 interfaces. The data of connected "last mile" equipment (1xE1/T1) are bundled over one line for transmission along with the network data (1x10/100 BaseT). On the receiving side, a second IPV multiplexer reconverts the packets that arrive into the respective data streams. Both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint applications (in combination with IPV-MUX-M) are possible via IP networks on copper lines. An optional optical fiber interface can also be used to connect an optical point-to-point connection on the IP side - ideal for laser link connections, for example.

"We designed the IPV-MUX-S to network enterprise applications, primarily voice applications. What makes the IPV-MUX-S so special right now is that it can be integrated in existing infrastructures without any additional investments," explains Marcus Mueller, Marketing Director at Pandatel.

The IPV-MUX-S is fully compatible with the modular IPV-MUX-M, which offers further possible applications: its second 10/100BaseT IP port can be used to cascade two gateways. Configuration and maintenance are easy via VT100, Telnet or SNMP Management; QoS and VLAN tagging are supported. The IPV-MUX-S is already available as a compact desktop model.
