Palomar Automates Diode Assembly

VISTA, Calif. -- Palomar Technologies introduces the Laser Diode Assembly Cell (LDA), a new high-precision assembly system that fully automates complex laser diode component assembly. The LDA eliminates manual processes by precisely placing and attaching microchips to their packaging. The system uses a patented heat process that controls the reflow temperature for high yield, with a placement accuracy of ± 5 microns. Palomar's system enables optoelectronic manufacturers to meet growing volume requirements by increasing yield and throughput, while reducing costs.

"Increased automation is critical to meeting the high volume production requirements needed to support the growing optical and mobile Internet," said Gary Gist, chief executive officer of Palomar Technologies. "The LDA is the first to provide full automation while achieving high accuracy and high yield."
