SAN DIEGO and KFAR-SABA, Israel -- With itsadvanced optical service transport system successfully launched at theSUPERCOMM trade show last month, Israel-based PacketLight Networks(www.PacketLight.com) has expanded its U.S. operation, addingtelecommunications industry veteran William E. (Rick) Talbot as director ofproduct marketing. Talbot will lead the North American team in marketing the company'snew all-packet optical multiple-service transport system. PacketLight willpresent its innovative system this week at NFOEC (Booth 3901). The newsystem supports all types of services, including SONET and the emerging dataand storage area network services. Based on PacketLight's patent-pendingtechnology and architecture, the system can combine data, voice, storage andvideo, supporting TDM, ATM, IP, SAN and all optical signals within a single,all-packet fabric, controlled by MPLS with a high level of DWDM integration. "We are just beginning to see a new generation of MPLS-based systemsthat integrate multiple traffic collection approaches, including SONET/SDHand GigE, onto a DWDM infrastructure," said Tracey Vanik, technical directorat RHK, a leading market research firm for the telecommunications industry, specializing in the analysis of advanced network technologies. "UtilizingMPLS labels to identify the destination of each flow provides a potentiallysimpler and more efficient approach to engineering metropolitan lambda basednetworks."PacketLight Networks
