MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- The TM Forum, the world's leading industry organization dedicated to operational and business management issues for information, communications and entertainment services, announced today that it will underscore its push into the cable space with the creation of a Cable Interest Group (CIG) and the appointment of industry executive Kelly Anderson to head the Cable Sector for TM Forum. In addition, the organization will focus on operation and management solutions for cable operators at its Management World Americas event, taking place November 4-8, 2007 in Dallas.
The Cable Interest Group is composed of Multiple System Operators (MSOs) from Europe and the U.S. Together they will address needed support for data management, service delivery, revenue assurance, and the management of services such as advertising, multimedia applications, interactive services, and the introduction of personalized content. Kelly Anderson, who has a great understanding of these issues, is leading the CIG and TM Forum's Cable initiative.
Anderson joins TM Forum from IPDR.org, a collaborative industry consortium and recognized leader in next-generation IP service usage and exchange standards worldwide, which is now part of the TM Forum. IPDR Streaming Protocol has been well- adopted by the cable and telecom industries, including CableLabs®' OpenCable™ Application Platform Version 1.1 initiative, and by the Alliance for Telecommunication Industry Solutions' (ATIS) as an American National Standard for Service-neutral Usage Data Management.
TM Forum's President Martin Creaner commented, "With several major cable MSOs as members of TM Forum already, including Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications, we have been able to prove our value in the cable industry. Establishing the Cable Interest Group, appointing Kelly to drive our overall cable initiatives and creating a strong cable industry focus at our upcoming Management World Americas event in Dallas, serves to reemphasize our commitment to growing our relevance to the cable market."
