HELSINKI -- Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), the leading vendor of dynamic Operations Support System (OSS) software, today announced that Telesur has selected Comptel Provisioning and Activation to centralize and automate its order-to-activation process. Eliminating the service provider’s manual entry system, the solution will make it easier to provision subscribers and services, and deliver increased efficiencies in the process.

Government-owned Telesur has been the incumbent operator in the Republic of Suriname since 1973. It offers local and international, fixed and mobile telephony, Internet and data services to all districts in the country. Over the past couple of years, Suriname’s telecommunications environment has opened up to competing operators that offer GSM services. To remain the leader in the mobile sector, Telesur needed to overcome business inefficiencies caused by its manual mode of operations.

“We required a solid provisioning and activation engine to help us further improve our GSM services,” said Mr. Dirk Currie, CEO, Telesur. “Comptel’s offering will allow us to control costs, reduce human errors, improve time to market—and maintain our competitive edge in Suriname.”
