DUBLIN -- Openet, the leading provider of Transactional Intelligence for the world’s largest and most innovative network service providers, today announces Openet’s new Business Intelligence and Analytics Practice, supported by a relationship with Netezza, the global leader in data warehousing appliances. The Business Intelligence and Analytics Practice will provide Openet’s telecom service provider and cable operator customers with both productized and custom business intelligence solutions, including data models, reporting development and data integration extending Openet’s Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solution architecture capabilities, announced earlier this week.

Deeper subscriber and service consumption insight is a key intended derivative of Openet’s SDM solution architecture. Until now, Openet provided an ingredient of this architecture – the ability to collect and process data using its mediation software product. Openet’s Business Intelligence and Analytics capabilities combined with the Netezza® TwinFin™ data warehouse appliance completes the solutions, enabling operators to gain comprehensive visibility across multiple parts of their organization with reports and analytics tied to specific business issues such as audience measurement, marketing promotions, subscriber loyalty, revenue assurance and network resource usage and congestion. Openet is leveraging its expertise in mediation, a range of services from consulting to implementation and a best-in-class partnership strategy to enable full visibility into customer service usage.

“The launch of Openet’s Business Intelligence and Analytics Practice means that our customers now have access to actionable, end-to-end information, bringing Transactional Intelligence to a new level,” said Mike Manzo, CMO of Openet. “As telco and cable operators face unique challenges with storing, synching and leveraging their data, it was critical to offer these capabilities in addition to our existing solutions. By working with Netezza, we’re able to fill a significant gap in the market and bring our customers tangible business value.”

The Practice will deliver data models and reports that are built with off-the-shelf business intelligence software applications such as IBM Cognos. To support this effort, Netezza has brought its core strengths to the Business Intelligence and Analytics Practice, leveraging Netezza’s renowned data warehousing appliances. These core competencies bolster the new practice, which will act as an umbrella for architectures and solutions supporting dynamic and static data monitoring and use.

“Openet has a long history of innovation in the telco and cable markets,” said John Gillespie, Netezza’s global telecommunications vice president and general manager. “Its cutting-edge solutions are helping to set the pace of the market and meet subscriber demand for more sophisticated services. The Business Intelligence and Analytics Practice is breaking new ground for operator transactions and data, and the combination of Openet and Netezza technology is a powerful asset for the industry.”
