9:00 AM -- If any one company can generate word-of-mouth buzz at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week, it should be Pursway .

The company (formerly Datanetis) is an "influencer marketing" specialist whose software package is designed to help companies develop "scalable and measurable" campaigns based around "social influence."

The company believes "most buying decisions are made as a result of recommendations from friends, family, and colleagues," and has developed a product that "closes the gap" between how companies market their goods and services and "the way consumers really make their buying decisions."

Even if you're not convinced, others are. France Telecom's Salt SA and Vodafone Group plc (NYSE: VOD) are already customers, and Pursway has just banked a $6 million round from Battery Ventures to help fund its expansion plans in Europe and North America.

Remember now, if you do go and see them in Barcelona, tell them I sent you.
