DALLAS -- The TeleManagement Forum (TM Forum) announced today HP’s membership in OSS/J, (OSS through Java™), a technical program of the TM Forum. HP will act as the specifications and project management lead of the OSS/J Fault management API, joining Covad, Siemens, and Sun Microsystems. The purpose of the group is to accelerate the development of the Fault Management API (public draft currently available) and complete the API’s Reference Implementation in all three integration profiles (Java JVT, XML/JMS and Web Services). The Fault Management RI is targeted to be completed in mid 2007.

An active member of the TeleManagement Forum as well as a long-time contributor to OSS/J technologies, HP’s work on the development and maintenance of the OSS/J Fault Management API is complementary to HP’s existing TM Forum activities and its commitment to reducing implementation, integration, and maintenance costs.

“To increase revenues, service providers worldwide are demanding interoperable, end-to-end solutions that are easy to implement and maintain. This requires a standards-based approach that can be implemented in the real world of complex OSS systems and networks,” said Martin Creaner, CTO, TM Forum. “OSS/J APIs are designed to help service providers and their suppliers more easily assemble comprehensive OSS solutions, enabling them to more quickly offer higher margin next-generation services.”
