DALLAS and LONDON -- Cramer is working with Nortel* to showcase the first application of standards-based integration in telecom service activation, using TeleManagement Forum's Multi-Technology Operations System Interface (MTOSI) standard.
Cramer and Nortel will demonstrate the use of MTOSI for activation of Ethernet services during TeleManagement World Dallas 2005, November 7 - 11.
"This demonstration shows how Nortel's Optical Multiservice Edge 6500 can be used to deliver Ethernet Services in a multi-vendor network and how easily it can be integrated into a service provider's OSS system," said Jason Reeves, product manager, Nortel. "Cost-effective delivery of Ethernet is essential for service providers, and the MTOSI technology helps lower the introduction cost of Nortel products into a carrier's operational and business systems."
Cramer CTO Don Gibson said, "Standardization is essential if OSS is to meet carriers' requirements for efficient management of next-generation networks. MTOSI is rapidly gaining momentum as the leading standard for OSS-to-network integration. Solving this age-old problem in a cost-effective manner will play a major role in reducing carriers' total cost of ownership."
MTOSI provides the first standard mechanism for telecom operations support systems to exchange data. Standards-based products make interoperability easier, reduce the cost, time and technical risk of new integrations, and accelerate speed-to-market of new software products.
