HELSINKI -- Accanto Systems, formerly Sunrise Telecom Protocol Products Group), a leader in Customer Service Assurance solutions for converged networks, announced today that it is opening two new Sales and Support offices in Malaysia and Singapore. Due to steady increase in subscriber growth and service sophistication from operators throughout Asia Pacific, Accanto is making this investment as a natural response to the need for Sales and Support activity in the region.

Accanto Systems will be launching its APAC region initiative at CommunicAsia in Singapore on June 16–19. “Despite a difficult world economy, many mobile operators in the Asia Pacific Region are continuing to grow both their subscriber base and their mobile data services,” said Klaus Bauer, VP of Sales for Accanto Systems. “Not surprisingly, we have seen a corresponding increase in the amount of Accanto product and service opportunities from countries throughout the region during this last year. We are confident we can better serve our customers, as well as substantially grow our revenue base, by having Sales and Support functions closer to those markets.”

Singapore’s 3G market has taken off with 2.5 million 3G subscribers, representing 40% of its total mobile subscriber base. It has also tried to create more competition and has issued five facilities-based and 29 service-based licences1. Similarly, Hong Kong, which saw a modest 8.5% increase in its subscriber base in 2008, also witnessed strong growth in its 3G subscriber base, bringing it to 23.8% of its total customer base2. Lastly, China experienced a double-digit subscriber growth of 17.2% in its mobile operator space in 4Q.20083.

“The recent introduction of our iCSA Solution, combined with current wins such as Digicel, gives us an ideal position to offer practical and cost-effective solutions to operators in this region,” said Michele Campriani, CEO of Accanto Systems. “We have sold over 50 solutions in the last 15 months alone to European and U.S. carriers and can now translate this success to helping Asia Pacific operators install and optimize new high-growth converged services.”
