HAWTHORNE, Calif. -- OSI Fibercomm, a subsidiary of OSI Systems (Nasdaq: OSIS), introduces a new silicon avalanche photodetector featuring high responsivity / QE, high bandwidth, low capacitance together with low noise and low operational voltage. The FCI-APD-300 has an active area diameter of 300 mm and is ideal for applications in high speed optical communications, laser range finders, free space communications and optical remote controllers. Other applications include medical equipment manufacturing, high speed photometry and other tasks requiring light detection in visible and near infrared ranges.

OSI Fibercomm’s new photodetectors are excellent devices for low light level applications requiring high frequency and high sensitivity performance at the same time. They are available in a hermetically sealed TO-46 package with either flat window or micro lens cap. This new superior performance silicon avalanche sensor from OSI Fibercomm is in production and ready to ship now.
