Supply agreement with Flextronics Regional Services speeds up Optillion's transceiver manufacturing

STOCKHOLM -- Flextronics Regional Services, abusiness unit of Flextronics, and Optillion, a leader in high-speedfiber optic transceiver technology, today announced a strategic supplyagreement that decreases Optillion's capital expenditure need forgeneral production equipment and enables sourcing-in standard componentsat high-volume prices. As a result, there will be an acceleration oftransceiver assembly, faster ramp-up times and decreased time-to-marketfor volume delivery for Optillion."We are extremely pleased to be able to support Optillion in bringingtheir products into the growing 10 gigabit Ethernet market", said PeterEkström, President of Flextronics Regional Services. The Company has selected todevelop optical chip and the optical sub-modules in-house at its new15,000 square-foot semiconductor clean room facility in order to controlcritical design and production processes. This in-house manufacturingcoupled with Flextronics' support in final test and assembly will allowOptillion to deliver volume quantities, quality control and costefficiencies that will meet customer demands.Optillion will exhibit its 10 Gbit/s Ethernet transceivers atNetworld+Interop, booth 8371, from May 7-9 at the Las Vegas ConventionCenter.Optillion ABFlextronics Corp.
