SHENZHEN, China -- ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that has released a compact optical transport network (OTN) metro edge layer device, the ZXMP M721, that further builds ZTE’s ability to deliver future-proof end-to-end metro transport networks.

The trend towards All-IP telecommunications services, and the evolution of IP networks, brings huge challenges to transport networks. Fixed/mobile network convergence and cluster router deployment also require that the transport network should have multi-service bearing capability, higher bandwidth and adaptability to a MESH typology structure. In response to these trends, ZTE released the new generation iOTN transport platform in late 2010, including the ZXONE 8000, ZXWM M920 and ZXMP M820 series products. Integrated with WASON, PXC, L2 switching and OTN technology, these products have intelligent control plane, large-capacity optical/electrical layer service dispatching and reliable carrier-class protection functions, and can meet various transmission requirements from the long-distance backbone layer to the metro layer.

With the large-scale commercial deployment of 3G, LTE, IPTV and broadband access services and the continuous development of new concepts such as the Smart City, the Smart Grid, the Internet of Things and tri-network integration, operators’ bearer networks, in most cases, require substantial development to be able to deliver these new services.
