STOCKHOLM -- Transmode, a global supplier of packet optical networking solutions, today announced that Virgin Media has selected Transmode to be the preferred supplier for its national next-generation Metro Optical WDM deployments.

The new agreement for the supply of Metro Optical technology is the latest in a series of major Transmode wins with Virgin Media in recent years. In September 2011, Transmode signed a multi-year contract with Virgin Media to supply Ethernet-based mobile backhaul service delivery networks across the UK.

This new contract will see Transmode continuing to supply significant volumes of its TM-Series, but will expand Transmode's current business with the UK-wide deployment of the next-generation Flexible Optical Networking solutions including Transmode's range of ROADMs with advanced Network Management. The new agreement will see the deployment of Transmode's Layer 2 Ethernet Muxponders, as included in the recently announced Mobile Backhaul contract.
