STOCKHOLM -- Transmode, a leading provider of Optical Networking Solutions, today announced that Telenor Group, a Norwegian global telecommunications services provider, has signed an agreement for Transmode's WDM equipment to build a new optical DWDM metro core network in Norway. Telenor is deploying Transmode's TM-Series throughout 200 sites in order to meet the increasing demand for capacity from both fixed and mobile broadband traffic.

Transmode has been a longstanding supplier to Telenor of CWDM Metro Access networks since 2005 and this new Metro Core contract was won against stiff competition from other leading optical networking vendors. This additional contract represents a significant expansion in Transmode's business with Telenor and is a strong endorsement of the companies' ongoing Metro Access contract.

"It is essential for us to have a cost-effective, flexible and scalable solution to meet new multiservice demands and deliver the best quality services to our customers," said Bjorn Netland Director Broadband Networks Telenor. "We chose Transmode from several other suppliers because it offered us a flexible and reliable metro DWDM solution at the lowest total cost of ownership."
