PARIS -- Telco Systems, a BATM Company, today announced a new OC-3/STM1 Circuit Emulation Services (CES) option for its T-Metro 200 multi-service switch. The OC-3/STM-1 CES Aggregation Card offers a cost effective replacement for expensive TDM leased lines enabling service providers to extend their reach and addressable customer base to include both voice and data without sacrificing revenues from existing services. Circuit Emulation Services allows providers to merge their leased line services, PBX access systems, and cellular backhaul over newer, more cost-effective packet networks.

Based on Circuit Emulation Services over Packet (CESoP), structure-agnostic TDM over Packet (SAToP) and MEF standards for T-Line (T1/E1) services, the T-Metro’s OC3/STM1 interface together with the Company’s T-Marc 254 T1/E1 CPE demarcation device provide a cost effective, end-to-end solution for transporting TDM over packet networks to support applications such as carrier Ethernet for cell site backhaul and PBX extension for multiple T1/E1 lines over Ethernet. Remote management and performance monitoring options help minimize operating expenses while advanced quality of service technology supports SLA guarantees to ensure delivery of services.

“Service providers and enterprises with significant investments in legacy infrastructure need solutions that will allow them to migrate their circuit-switched voice services to emerging packet-based networks,” stated Ofer Finklestein, Sr. Marketing Director for Telco Systems. “Circuit emulation technology enables enterprises to reduce operating costs by allowing them to retain and make the most of earlier investments in circuit-switched applications.”

The new Circuit Emulation Services (CES) module supports up to 128 pseudowires to emulate 63 E1 or 84 T1 unstructured channels or up to 2,016 DS0 timeslots multiplexed onto a single OC-3/STM-1 interface. The T-Metro 200 provides two unpopulated slots which will support either 2 four-port T1/E1 modules or the OC-3/STM-1 Aggregation Card.

Telco Systems débuted the new module at the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress being held in Paris, France this week. The Company successfully completed the interoperability test for structure agnostic TDM circuit emulation services with three other devices during EANTC’s MPLS & Ethernet Interoperability Test which is showcased at the event in Paris. More information on the public multi-vendor interoperability test event organized by EANTC is available at http://www.eantc.com/mplsewc2009.
