Shanghai Unicom selects Sycamore Networks's multiservice switching gear to scale its mobile RAN infrastructure

CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Sycamore Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMR), a leader in intelligent networking solutions for fixed line and mobile network operators worldwide, today announced that Shanghai Unicom, a subsidiary of China Unicom, has selected the Company's DNX-88 multiservice cross-connect and ENvision network management system to optimize and scale its mobile Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure in response to growing demand for wireless services.

Shanghai Unicom selected the field-proven DNX-88 multiservice cross-connect platform to support efficient and reliable capacity expansion in its mobile backhaul infrastructure and ensure superior quality of service for its wireless customers. The Sycamore multiservice switching solution, sold through the Company's local distribution partner Shanghai Potevio Co., Ltd., provides industry-leading service interface density and flexibility in a highly compact bandwidth management system optimized for maximum service availability.
