MILAN, Italy -- PGT Photonics S.p.A., a company specializing in second-generation photonics and transport systems for metro and access networks, today announced its City+ CWDM & DWDM Multiservice Platform is now authorized and commercially available for sales in Russia. The PGT system will be on display this week in booth #238 at Broadband World Forum Europe taking place in Brussels.

After a series of audits and tests conducted by Komset, a scientific and testing center authorized by the Russian Telecommunications Ministry, PGT has received certification of its City+ Platform from Infocom, the competent body which approves all new telecommunications vendors for the country. With this new certificate, PGT can sell its multiservice system throughout Russia. PGT is also in the final stages of completing the necessary documentation that will permit the company to participate in new business opportunities and sell its CWDM and DWDM platform in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the 11 former Soviet Republics.

“Russia has a rapidly growing communications market,” said Pierluigi Franco, vice president, Sales and Marketing -- Systems for PGT Photonics. “City+ is a versatile WDM platform that is well suited for a range of transport applications including metro access, metro core, enterprise, and longer-haul distances; thus our offering is the ideal solution for the build out of new telecommunications infrastructures brought on by the strong economic growth within Russia and CIS.”
