TOKYO -- Yenista Optics releases a single bandwidth version of its WS40, at the FOE on January 16 - 18 in Tokyo, Japan. The product is showcased in a live demo at booth 1-31 of Cornes Dodwell, Yenista’s sales partner for the Japanese market.

The new version of the WS40 is a fast tunable filter which has a FWHM of 0.5 nm in combination with low insertion loss. The filter has a tuning range of 120 nm from 1515 nm to 1635 nm with insertion loss of typically 1.5 dB and guaranteed below 2.0 dB. Tuning speed between arbitrary wavelengths is typically 40 ms while providing 10 pm wavelength accuracy. The PC based platform of the tunable filter is interfaced through an 8.4 inch touch screen with intuitive software. The software includes a routine for automating bit-error-rate testing in DWDM systems: user-defined sequence of channels with corresponding measurement intervals. Remote control is provided through GigaEthernet (RJ45).

At last year’s ECOC in Berlin, Yenista introduced the WS40 with selectable bandwidth, FWHM from 0.3 to 1.0 nm, allowing the customer to determine optimum filtering bandwidth. The selectable bandwidth version of the filter has insertion loss of typically 4.5 dB and guaranteed below 6.0 dB. The new version of the WS40 provides a solution for customers that require low insertion loss in combination with a predetermined bandwidth.
