KISTA, Sweden -- Proximion AB, a world-class provider of Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based dispersion compensation modules (DCMs), today announced the launch of the DCM-HDC, the latest addition to its continuous band dispersion compensation product line. The DCM-HDC is a high-end passive dispersion compensator with extraordinary optical performance. It is targeted for use in Ultra Long-Haul (ULH) coherent detection links. “The DCM-HDC is the clear market leader with very low losses, less than 3.5 dB per module, thus allowing 150,000 ps/nm compensation with less than 55 dB of loss in a flexi-grid band. The insertion loss is approximately 50% of competing FBG-based solutions and 10% of DCF-based solutions. ”By compensating large amount of dispersion, up to 10,000 ps/nm per module, at extremely low loss, the DCM-HDC significantly extends the reach of long haul high speed transmission systems. Additional benefits of handling the bulk dispersion outside the DSP, besides reducing the complexity, includes substantially lower power consumption and reduced latency. Proximion Fiber Systems AB
