SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- CoAdna Photonics, Inc., a leading supplier of WSS modules for ROADM and WXC applications, today announced the introduction of an ultra compact Liquid Crystal-based module – a 2x1 Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) that enables system providers to build flexible and intelligent optical networks cost-effectively. The 2x1 WSS will be showcased along with its popular WSS 4x1, 8x1, and 9x1 modules at CoAdna’s OFC/NFOEC’08 Booth #2330 at San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, CA, February 26-28, 2008.

“The 2x1/1x2 WSS is the first module to extend colorless ROADM from the Metro Core to Metro Access and beyond,” said Dr. Jim Yuan, President and CEO of CoAdna Photonics. “Besides the excellent performance characteristic of our WSS product line, the 1X2 for the first time provides drop and continue capability with a fully programmable drop ratio. The product incorporates all of the functionality and reliability of the LightFlow™ platform that has been demonstrated with successful Telcordia qualification of DCEB™, WSS 4x1/1x4, 8x1/1x8, and 9x1/1x9 modules. These modules have been deployed in large volumes (>3,000 modules at >1,000 nodes), carrying live traffic for Tier-1 carriers in North America and other regions of the world.
