Cable & Wireless appoints Andy Evans as chief technology officer

LONDON -- Cable & Wireless today announced the appointment of Andy Evans as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for its Europe, Asia and US business. The appointment is effective immediately.

In his new role, Andy will be responsible for Network Infrastructure & Strategy, Technology Platforms, IT and Security. His role will involve managing Cable & Wireless’ technology cost base and leveraging its Next Generation Network (NGN) platform to offer advanced services to customers. He will also be a member of the Executive team.

Andy has a wealth of experience for this position obtained from his previous role as Group Chief Technology & Information Officer at Marconi, where he was responsible for product marketing, network architecture and strategy, as well as IT and partnerships. Prior to this, he was Chief Technology Officer at Flag Telecom and also held a senior telecommunications specialist role at McKinsey. Andy is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
