Bookham, Avanex Set the Date

7:20 AM -- Assuming no shareholder drama, Bookham Inc. (Nasdaq: BKHM; London: BHM) and Avanex Corp. (Nasdaq: AVNX) appear set to merge on April 27.

A revised S-4 form got filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) yesterday, giving that date for shareholder meetings of both companies.

If you haven't scanned the month-old S-4, it's recommended. You'll find tidbits like Bookham's request to shareholders for a potential reverse stock split of 1:5 to 1:30. Or a detailed history of Avanex's sale negotiations with five other companies late last year.

re: Bookham, Avanex Set the Date

"...the acquisition committee directed that discussions with Company A be halted because of the updated information received concerning its liquidity situation and need for additional financing".

Let's play guess that company. Who is not public, in the optical components game, wanted to merge with Avanex, and needs money? And is running out of money in such a way that even Avaturd would not want to hook up with them?
