Avago announced the appointment of Mercedes Johnson to the position of chief financial officer

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Avago Technologies Inc., the world's largest privately held independent semiconductor company, today announced the appointment of Mercedes Johnson to the position of chief financial officer, reporting directly to Dick Chang, president and chief executive officer. She will have overall responsibility for Avago's financial operations, including corporate finance and accounting, planning, tax, treasury, business development, investor relations, internal audit, risk management, and information technology.

Ms. Johnson most recently worked for Lam Research Corp., serving for seven years as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Lam Research, she was employed for nearly 11 years with Applied Materials, Inc., where she served in various senior financial management positions, including vice president and worldwide operations controller. Ms. Johnson spent her early career in a range of financial roles for HP, NCR and Nanometrics.

Ms. Johnson holds a degree in accounting from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She serves on the boards of Intersil Corp. and Micron Technology.
