The TO-56 package features high output power and an aluminum-free active region for better reliability. The optimized chip design has enabled full-power operation with a temperature range from -40 °C to +95 °C. Previous versions of this device from AOI and other suppliers were limited to -20 to +85 °C operation.Providing for the developing Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) market, AOI has been delivering sample shipments of the extended temperature range 1310-nm DFB laser diodes to customers since October 2005. Currently, the production capacity is 10,000 per month.
