PARIS -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announces that upon recommendation of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee, the Board of directors, during its meeting on May 29, 2009, approved the appointment of Ted Leonsis as member of the Board’s Technology Committee. Ted Leonsis will not be a Board member.

The role of the Technology Committee is to review the key technology strategies of Alcatel-Lucent and assess their relevance, contribution and importance to the future direction of the company. In addition to Ted Leonsis, the Technology Committee’s members include Louis Hughes (Chairman) and Olivier Piou, both Board members as well as Jeong Kim, President of Bell Labs and Philippe Keryer, President of the company’s Carrier Product Group, Jean-Pierre Desbois and Mr. Hauptmann, observers.
