Greeks to Fund Fiber Net

1:30 PM -- Much excitement in Greece, where leading politicians are talking about a €2.1 billion ($3 billion) investment in a new national fiber network to help boost the country's broadband and cable TV capabilities.

Details are hard to come by, but, if the plan gets the green light from the European Commission and the country's parliament, it looks set to be a potential long-term engagement for any network builders and vendors involved.
