PARIS -- Ekinops, a leading provider of optical transport and DWDM solutions, today announced that a major French CLEC, e-téra, has deployed the Ekinops optical transport platform to expand its national next generation (very high speed transmission) network. e-téra has deployed the Ekinops 360 platform because of its high performance and scalability. The network has been under commercial service for several months now.

In order to optimize its high-speed optical transport and quickly meet the growing needs of its customers, (service providers, enterprises, local authorities), e-téra needed to integrate new equipment to transport Gigabit Ethernet traffic on metro and long-haul DWDM optical networks.

Ekinops was able to provide a simple solution to connect several POPs (points of presence) of e-téra in the southwest of France using advanced technologies that carry 40G capacity today and are ready for 80G traffic bi-directionally on a single fiber for several links reaching 300 km distances each.

Additionally, Ekinops has helped e-téra connect its two separate IP networks between Paris and Geneva via its (e-téra’s) existing SDH network.

“Ekinops was able to immediately provide e-téra with a plug-and-play solution based on the Ekinops 360 platform, in a single compact chassis, which included all the functionalities the client needed,” declared Sebastien Bernard, France sales director at Ekinops. “Our goal consisted of providing e-téra the most optimized solution, to quickly meet current needs and be ready for the ever-growing demands of bandwidth in the future,” he added.
