Huawei to deploy large-scale next-generation DWDM for Mediacom in North America

PLANO, Texas -- Huawei, a leader in providing next-generationtelecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, was recently selectedby Mediacom Communications, one of the nation's largest cable television companies andthe leading cable operator focused on serving the smaller cities and towns in the UnitedStates, to deploy Next-Generation Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (NG-DWDM)transport across over 4000km of Mediacom’s backbone network through the states ofMissouri, Iowa and Minnesota.

Under the agreement, Huawei will provide Mediacom with its OSN6800A NG-WDM platformutilizing the latest in optical technologies with multi-degree ROADM, tunable optics, andOTN cross-connects. The network solution will support 10/40G and future 100Gwavelengths to competitively deliver advanced, high bandwidth services today and well intothe future.

The system uses advancedtechnologies to help telecom operators build a flexible, IP/Ethernet friendly and cost efficientfuture-proof transport network. This product helps operators to deal with rapid increases intraffic and fast network expansion challenges in a highly scalable and protocol agnosticplatform. The OSN6800 has been successfully deployed in the networks of leading operatorsin Asia-Pacific, Europe and Latin American.
