Infinera's Euro Challenge

6:00 AM -- Having bagged a gig with Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), optical vendor Infinera Corp. (Nasdaq: INFN) is looking to build further on the Old Continent -– but what does it need to do to land more business in the dis-united states of Europe? (See Infinera Wins DT, Loses the Day.)

European RFP shortlists typically include the incumbent optical vendor, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. , and Infinera, CEO Jagdeep Singh said during the company's second quarter earnings conference call. (See Infinera Surprises, Targets Metro Access.)

But Singh was keen to point out that doesn't mean Infinera is engaging in a price battle with the Chinese vendor. "We try to really focus on the value proposition, and obviously you can't be way out of line with pricing, but again we find that we don't need to be the absolute lowest bidder on those deals," stated the CEO, according to a conference call transcript produced by Seeking Alpha.
