QUEBEC CITY -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF), the market leader in optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR), announced today the release of its high-performance FTB-7600E OTDR for ultra-long-haul network applications.

The new FTB-7600E OTDR provides a dynamic range of 50 dB to allow characterization of links up to 250 kilometers. EXFO’s expertise in signal processing delivers an unmatched linearity of ±0.03 dB/dB, enabling the OTDR to accurately locate faults on ultra-long-haul networks without compromising on resolution and distance.

This latest test module within EXFO’s best-of-class OTDR offering is housed inside the FTB-200 Compact Platform for super technicians requiring a multi-technology test platform for large-scale network deployments. It is also available in the FTB-400 test platform dedicated to network engineers for advanced network diagnostics.

The FTB-7600E OTDR is offered in single and dual-wavelength configurations and delivers up to 256,000 sampling points for ultra-high trace resolution. A single push of a button generates detailed results within less than five seconds, including a complete event table.

“The pendulum has begun to swing back as growing bandwidth demand in access and metro networks is increasingly placing a strain on long-haul and ultra-long-haul networks and requiring more fiber deployments,” said Etienne Gagnon, EXFO’s Vice-President of Product Management and Marketing. “Once again, EXFO has confirmed its market leadership in OTDR testing with a fifth new product introduction this year to meet our customers’ changing requirements. This unique OTDR combines accuracy and power for carriers intending to deploy and maintain ultra-long-haul networks.”
