BT Pals Reunited

5:10 AM -- Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) might need to be referred to as "BT in Disguise" soon if CEO Ben Verwaayen, who joined AlcaLu from the British incumbent operator in late 2008, sticks with his current recruitment policy. (See Verwaayen Takes the Helm at AlcaLu 169293

What am I talking about? Check this out:

  • On Monday the vendor appointed Sir Christopher Bland -- who was chairman of BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA) for most of Verwaayen's tenure at the U.K. operator -- as non-executive chairman for AlcaLu's U.K. business with immediate effect. Here's a picture of Bland (right) and Verwaayen during the old days at BT. (See AlcaLu Appoints UK Execs and End of a Bland Era.)

  • At the same time the vendor announced that Lucy Dimes, who was until recently BT's managing director of Group & Openreach Service Operations at BT Operate, will become the CEO of AlcaLu's U.K. and Ireland operations.

  • In early January AlcaLu announced that it had lured senior BT executive George Nazi (a key 21CN executive during Verwaayen's BT tenure) to join its Quality Assurance and Customer Care management team in Paris. (See AlcaLu Hires Senior BT Exec and BBWF 2010: What's With BT's 21CN?)

Who might be next? Does BT CEO Ian Livingston need to shackle any of his other senior staff? Watch this space…
