Alcatel Upgrades Hanaro
Hanaro Telecom's service offering ranges from fixed voice to high-speed Internet services to business and residential users. Thanks to the optical aggregation and multi-service transport offered by the Alcatel solution, Korean end-users can efficiently access Ethernet-based applications, such as virtual private networks (VPN), and multimedia content including video, music and online games. Differentiated services using a variety of protocols can be bundled and consolidated to achieve maximum efficiency in their delivery, minimizing Hanaro Telecom's operational expenditures.
"Customer satisfaction is the key driver for Hanaro Telecom in constantly broadening our offering to deliver higher value to end-users with guaranteed quality," stated Kang Min Lee, Manager, Network Technology Unit, Backbone Network Team, Hanaro Telecom. "Alcatel's cutting-edge and field-proven optical technology enables us to provide the scalability required in our network to cost-effectively address our fast growing service demands."
"Our next-generation network solution helps Hanaro Telecom move to a simplified network architecture for easily introducing new services," said Romano Valussi, President of Alcatel's optical networking activities. "With the speed at which today's services are changing, a flexible and reliable network is critical to anticipate growth with industry best quality."
The solution, based on its 1678 Metro Core Connect (MCC) and data-aware Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) systems, is managed by the Alcatel 1350 management suite, a portfolio of applications to manage packet, circuit and wavelength services.
