PARIS -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced the launch of its next-generation ETSI business access platform - the 1511 Media Access Cross-Connect (MAX). The 1511 MAX combines the key functionalities of a time-division access multiplexer with those of a digital cross-connect, and thus realizes a significant increase in space and power efficiency, capacity and carrier-grade redundancy. At the same time, the consolidated platform significantly reduces network and operational complexities.

The cornerstone of Alcatel-Lucent’s industry-leading 1500-series of ETSI business access products, the 1511 MAX is a future-proof solution that targets fixed and mobile service providers (for leased line and grooming applications respectively), as well as a number of vertical market segments – including the oil and gas, power transmission and transportation industries. Typical applications, supported by the 1500-series of products, include:

  • Tele-protection

  • Telemetry and telecontrol

  • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)

  • Video surveillance

  • Public information display and address systems

  • Operational telephony

  • Emergency call points

“With the launch of the 1511 MAX, Alcatel-Lucent meets the mission-critical business access requirements of its customers,” says Dirk Van den Berghen, President of Alcatel-Lucent’s access activities. “The consolidated 1511 MAX platform is a concrete answer to an increased demand for optimal reliability, with reduced CAPEX and OPEX. This new ETSI platform effectively allows our business access customers to deploy new applications with a top-notch efficiency, while safeguarding business, production and service continuity.”
