LONDON -- Joining from Verizon, John Donaldson Will Lead AboveNet's Finance Team in the UK

AboveNet Communications UK Ltd., a leading provider of fibre optical connectivity solutions for business and carriers and a subsidiary of AboveNet Inc., today announced the appointment of John Donaldson as its finance director. With over 11 years of experience within the telecommunications industry, John joins AboveNet to develop its commercial strategy and will be responsible for all UK finance related functions.

Prior to joining AboveNet, John held the position of commercial finance director at Verizon Business for 7 years. In this position, John's key responsibilities included heading up the Premier Accounts line of business in EMEA and providing migration support for Verizon's acquisition of MCI in 2006. With additional career achievements including forming the Global/Premier Accounts channel with MCI/Worldcom in EMEA (a sales channel selling to and supporting Fortune 500 and other large Verizon customers), John's expertise and knowledge in commercial and financial management are undisputed.

John has also held senior financial positions at Nortel Networks and Cellphones Direct, a Vodafone ISP.

With this new appointment, John will maintain responsibility for AboveNet's financial strategy, control, reporting activities and planning. He will also provide financial leadership to enhance AboveNet's operational effectiveness and assist in winning business opportunities.
