CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Integrated Photonics Technology (IPITEK), a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of Video-Optimized, Intelligent Broadband Networks, announced today that its Internet Media Transport (IMTRAN) MSP-10GE carrier class platform is now being deployed in networks that provide IP network services to residences. A number of major providers who offer Internet access by cable modem (CMTS), Digital Voice (VoIP) and Digital broadcast and multicast Television (IPTV) are using the MSP-10GE to implement a protected distribution ring, providing a reliable and cost-effective service offering to residential customers.

The MSP-10GE is provisioned with features that assist operators in building an economical Ethernet transport system for the delivery of residential triple-play services. The MSP-10GE, with its high level of performance in intelligent transport, monitoring, protection switching, flexibility and ease of provisioning, exceeds the industry requirements, making it a perfect fit for any provider looking for ways to cut costs while delivering dependable and profitable services.

The MSP-10GE utilizes operational tools that provide quality of the links and also monitor how well the connection to the residential node is operating. It also contains alarms that alert providers when a connection is starting to deteriorate, helping them to take corrective action before there is any noticeable loss of service. These tools are available via secure access through a web-based interface, command line interface, or by using a network management system.

"Price sensitivity of residential service delivery is a huge challenge facing service providers today. Plus, reliable service delivery is paramount if the provider is to maintain customer loyalty and avoid costly service interruptions," said Michael Salour, chairman and chief executive officer of IPITEK. "IPITEK's MSP-10GE platform supports all of the necessary industry standards and tools to help ensure that service providers keep operational expenditures low and network reliability high."
