Infinera to Fly Its Cable Colors

Will discuss new capabilities of its Digital Optical Networks architecture next week at NCTA’s The Cable Show

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Infinera (Nasdaq: INFN) will discuss new capabilities of its Digital Optical Networks architecture next week at its stand at CableNET® ’09, the technical display area at NCTA’s The Cable Show.

The Cable Show takes place from April 1st to the 3rd at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC.

Earlier this week Infinera announced that its new 400 Gigabit/second (Gb/s) photonic integrated circuits (PICs) will deliver significant benefits to next-generation optical networks, including higher capacity per fiber, dramatically reduced power consumption, reduced space consumption, and enhanced network reliability. Infinera’s 400 Gb/s PICs are designed to deliver 40 Gb/s per channel and work with Infinera’s ILS2 line system which delivers double the spectral density of traditional DWDM optical systems, enabling total capacity of up to 6.4 Terabits/second on a single pair of fibers.

Based on Infinera’s own large-scale photonic integrated circuits, the Infinera DTN is a Digital ROADM delivering benefits that are not available on traditional analog DWDM systems. Those benefits include integrated digital bandwidth management at the sub-wavelength level, digital multicast capabilities, and digital performance monitoring. Cable operators are facing the challenges of building out scalable networks to accommodate exponential growth in bandwidth demand, and offering a range of services across their networks to maximize revenue while keeping costs under control. With photonic integration, the Infinera DTN offers simple, fast, and cost-effective scalability.

At The Cable Show, Infinera representatives will explain how the Infinera system can help operators meet today’s challenges, and describe Infinera’s plans for Digital Optical Networks and PIC technology to evolve and scale to deliver 40 and 100 Gb/s data rates per channel and a total of up to 8 Tb/s of capacity on a pair of fibers.

The Infinera exhibit located in Hall C at the CableNET Booth #136 will be staffed by experienced Infinera sales and marketing staff who can provide further insight into Infinera’s unique architecture, systems, and the underlying photonic integration technology.
