Finisar announces 120km DWDM SFP transceiver with enhanced digital diagnostics functions and low power consumption
September 2, 2004
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR), a technology leader in gigabit fiber optic solutions for high-speed data and telecommunication networks, today announced a new dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver with enhanced digital diagnostics functions and low power consumption.
The DWDM SFP transceiver is designed for metropolitan access and core networks, with spans up to 120 kilometers and operating rates from 622 megabits-per-second to 2.7 gigabits-per-second. The transceiver is compatible with the latest DWDM SFP multi-source agreement (MSA), established with the help of Finisar. In addition to the digital diagnostics functions supported in all Finisar SFP transceivers, Finisar's DWDM SFP allows system equipment manufacturers the ability to add additional diagnostics functions for enhanced network monitoring.
"Finisar was the first to market with CWDM GBICs, DWDM GBICs and CWDM SFPs. With the addition of the DWDM SFP to our WDM product portfolio, we've taken the next strategic step to address higher density applications," said Atikem Haile-Mariam, product marketing manager for WDM transceivers.
