Axxessit Wins SDH Contract
Petersburg Transit Telecom (PTT) deploys Axxessit's SDH platform for its multiservice metro network
June 9, 2005
BERG I ØSTFOLD, Norway -- AXXESSIT announced today that Petersburg Transit Telecom (PTT), one of the leading telecom operators in the northwestern region of Russia, has deployed a multiservice metro network based on AXXESSIT’s next generation SDH platform, AXXEDGE.
PTT chose the AXXEDGE multiservice solution to build metro rings, and also to consolidate customer traffic from customer premises that previously has been transported over traditional leased lines. There has also been a sizeable deployment of AXX10 nodes to groom and aggregate customer E1 traffic into the ring.
EMAG, AXXESSIT’s long-term and largest partner in Russia, will support the project. "Delivering value for money, more specifically, the price/performance ratio was the major reason why PTT selected AXXESSIT for this project. We are delighted to have captured a large-scale project in the northwestern region with PTT,” said Evgeniy Chepusov, Sales Director at EMAG.
Importantly, the AXXEDGE solution is implemented to build a true versatile metro multiservice network, rather than a pure access solution. Again, this only substantiates the true inherent flexibility of the AXXEDGE solution. PTT is also anticipating the next deployment phase, and additional developments with the AXXESSIT solution program. AXXMETRO is identified internally within PTT, to ensure the carrier-class expansion of the metro core network.
James Worrall, Sales Director of AXXESSIT comments; “It’s fantastic news to have been awarded a contract with PTT. This is AXXESSIT’s first major win in this specific region, and based on the initial response from PTT, we are very confident that our collaboration with PTT will mature rapidly.”
