SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Oplink Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPLK), a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative optical components and subsystems, today announced the availability of its Integrated Tap Monitor Array product (ITMA), a compact, multi-channel power monitor for optical networks.Oplink’s new ITMA increases module design efficiency by significantly reducing the number of components required while maintaining desired performance levels. It integrates the functionality of an optical coupler and a photodetector while delivering low insertion loss and low dark current with high temperature stability over a wide wavelength range. Easily mounted on a PCB, Oplink’s standard 12-pin package can monitor up to 8 channels and is designed for optimal performance over both the C and L bands. “One of the key requirements for future optical networks is channel monitoring throughout,” said Zee Hakimoglu, Oplink’s vice president, product line management. “This product is Oplink’s solution for reducing the system-level cost of channel monitoring, allowing our customers to produce more cost efficient, high performance optical modules.” In Oplink’s continued commitment to delivering the highest value to its customers, the company also offers custom versions of this module with customer-specified number of channels and TAP ratios. Samples of Oplink’s ITMA are currently available and production is scheduled to begin first quarter of 2002. Oplink Communications Inc.
