4:00 PM -- Edge router vendor Laurel Networks polled 100 attendees during the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany last week on several aspects of deploying triple-play services. The Philter has seen the raw survey data and, indeed, the folks polled said the largest single barrier to deploying triple-play services is regulation.

The other answers were revealing as well. Here is the breakdown of all the responses to the "largest hurdle" question:

  • 35 percent -- Regulation
  • 32 percent -- Operational Costs
  • 15 percent -- Deployment Costs
  • 15 percent -- Technology Too Unreliable
  • 3 percent -- Technology Too Complex

Interestingly, operational costs were pretty high on the list as well. Funny thing, too. Aren't these one wire/all services networks supposed to save operational costs?
