BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:TEK) , a leading worldwide provider of communications network management and diagnostics solutions, announced enhancements to its GeoProbe Network Assurance solution, part of the industry-leading Unified Assurance suite of applications for management of next generation converged networks. The enhancements enable network operators to monitor new interfaces Gb/IP, IuFlex and A-interface over SIGTRAN for IP converged transport networks, building on the extensive capability of the GeoProbe platform to perform real-time, multi-protocol, cross-architecture performance monitoring.

IP convergence not only impacts the way operators view their networks -- from the service and application level -- it also impacts the underlying transport networks and associated technologies and protocols in the delivery of video, voice and data services. The transport network is evolving into a highly reliable, converged all-IP network for multi-media content. This converged approach allows operators to achieve greater operational efficiencies and maintain competitiveness by reducing network capital costs and operational expenses.

"Operators are evolving from legacy networks to IP switched and routed networks. They need monitoring systems that can be easily and affordably upgraded to support new interfaces and new services," said Doug Dickerson, Vice President and General Manager, Network Management, Tektronix. "By working closely with the world's largest network operators, we have developed a highly scalable and adaptable system to support the monitoring of signaling and media on converged transport networks to help our customers address new growth opportunities."
