Spirent announces availability of test cases and methodologies to streamline the verification of new revenue-generating IMS services

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Spirent Communications plc (NYSE: SPM;LSE: SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service assurancesolutions, today announced the availability of test cases and methodologiesto streamline the verification of new revenue-generating IMS services.Spirent's IMS solutions and its new test cases will allow service providersto minimize service development time while maximizing subscriber Quality ofExperience (QoE).

Spirent has developed a dedicated suite of pre-packaged test cases thatconform to Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standards in order to validate theseservices prior to deployment. Its new test cases for IMS services areenabling leading vendors to verify the functionality of IMS network elementsprior to delivery to operators. Spirent has developed the new test casesbased on industry standards, yet has built in the flexibility for customersto customize the test plans for proprietary implementations. Spirentsolutions allow for the prototyping of many new services in the lab, acritical tool for operators to roll out new multimedia services rapidly torealize the benefits of IMS on ARPU.
"IMS has gone from a concept to a here-and-now service deploymentarchitecture," said Andy Huckridge, director of IMS Solutions at SpirentCommunications. Huckridge also chairs the Interoperability Working Groupwithin the MultiService Forum (MSF). "The impact IMS stands to have onrevenue streams has forced vendors and operators to pay close attention toservice quality and to combine existing service offerings. Spirent hasdeveloped these new test cases to enable our IMS customers to ensure theirtime to revenue is as short as possible, while maximizing the QoE of theirdownstream subscribers right from the start."
