MILPITAS, Calif. -- JDSU today announced that Thomas Waechter has been appointed as president of its Communications Test & Measurement business. In his new role, Mr. Waechter will be responsible for global sales, product development and operations. He will report directly to Kevin Kennedy, JDSU's president and chief executive officer. Helmut Berg, current JDSU communications test and measurement president, will report to Mr. Waechter with a focus on strategy and corporate development.

Waechter brings more than 20 years of technology, operations and executive experience to JDSU. Most recently, Waechter was the chief operating officer of Harris Stratex Networks, an independent supplier of wireless transmission systems, where he was responsible for global operations, sales, services and customer satisfaction. As president and chief executive officer of Stratex, he was instrumental in driving the merger of Stratex and Harris, while substantially growing revenues and improving profitability.
