CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA - News), a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems, announced today the latest release of the IxVoice(TM) test system, its primary testing solution for unified VoIP and PSTN analysis. The new IxVoice 3.20 release adds support for multimedia over VoIP calls, detailed Quality of Voice scoring, and updated Telnet commands for increased automation flexibility. With IxVoice 3.20, users can simulate instant messages, and play and record H.263 video (a low-bitrate encoding solution for videoconferencing) with audio when a call is established. These new capabilities make it possible for users to quickly and economically test their new service offerings for system interoperability across networks, and to determine equipment performance limits, as well as system capacity limits.

As the scope of VoIP technology deployment increases, customers are demanding a service quality level from VoIP that is similar to that received from their traditional voice service offerings. To meet the testing and performance assessment needs of the Telecom/Network Equipment Manufacturers and VoIP Providers, IxVoice now integrates quality of voice scores per wave file, making it possible to pinpoint when the voice quality of a call degrades below expected levels. In addition, IxVoice 3.20 has significantly enhanced its test automation capability, which dramatically speeds test setup, execution, and results reporting. For example, IxVoice's automation framework now offers the capability to control devices under test or other test applications from within one or more tests, greatly extending test flexibility and test resource scalability. The integration of new Telnet commands for test configuration, as well as for manipulating, generating, and emailing reports, further extends the user's test options.

IxVoice's flexible scripting capability for creating real-world telephony test scenarios, along with its extensive support for automation, dramatically reduces testing cycles in a market segment characterized by frequent upgrades and enhancements.

  • Manufacturers use IxVoice to validate conformance and functionality in VoIP, PSTN, and converged network technologies.

  • Service Providers use IxVoice to help deploy and manage their VoIP offerings on their networks.

  • Enterprises use IxVoice to verify feature functionality of VoIP implementations.
