Finisar Expands WaveShaper

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR) today introduced two new WaveShaper Programmable Optical Filters. The WaveShaper 1000S/SP and 1000M/SP are polarization-maintaining programmable filters which provide full control of the amplitude and phase spectra across the entire C-band. These optical filters have been designed specifically for pulsed laser applications in medical and material processing as well as for testing of advanced optical communication systems.

In medical and material processing systems, the new WaveShaper filters provide the ability to precisely control the shape and timing of a laser pulse. This enables shorter and more stable laser pulses which increase manufacturing accuracy and throughput.

Advanced optical communication systems incorporating polarization multiplexing or coherent technologies benefit from the new WaveShaper 1000/SP, because it enables independent setting of the signal characteristics in each polarization.
