ESSEN, Germany and SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- CETECOM has selected Spirent's 8100 Location Technology Solution to provide the industry's first and only SUPL 2.0 conformance test capability for GSM and WCDMA devices, based on standards from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).

SUPL 2.0 is the latest release of the Secure User Plane Location protocol that enables wireless service providers to provide a new generation of location based services (LBS). As a leading provider of testing services for location technology in mobile devices, the ability to test SUPL 2.0 enables CETECOM to add to its extensive validation experience as well as to extend its strong partnership and excellent collaboration with Spirent.

"As the first laboratory worldwide to support SUPL 2.0 conformance testing, we are delighted to be able to satisfy the market's needs at such an early stage," said Thorsten Stabenau, Director Corporate Marketing & Sales of CETECOM.

Spirent's 8100 Location Technology Solution, embodying more than a decade of experience in testing location technology on mobile devices, is the first and only solution to have validated SUPL 2.0 test cases approved by the PTCRB, the cellular industry's certification body in the US. With support for CDMA, GSM, WCDMA and now LTE devices, most of the world's leading mobile operators, test labs, and mobile device and chipset manufacturers, rely on the Spirent 8100 for design, test and certification of their LBS solutions.

"Spirent and CETECOM's long relationship has helped advance location technology testing," said Brock Butler, director of location technology at Spirent. "With the industry first and only solution for SUPL 2.0, we have already implemented more than 90 percent of PTCRB's test requirements, and CETECOM provided the third party verification services for our solution."
